Dance with the Devil Shiraz Tempranillo 2010

“Good French oak can be a very seductive thing. This wine from Devil’s Lair shows it to good effect. Complexity isn’t an issue. It has it in spades. It’s stalky, spicy, plummy, cedary, both sour and sweet – throw it a guitar and it could play both country and western. Oak plays a positive and noticeable part at every turn– in its flavour and aroma and tannin. Tart acidity but sweet fruit. Herbs and spices. It comes in at the upper end of ‘affordability’, but it’s great to see Devil’s Lair back in consideration.”
