Dance with the Devil Sauvignon Blanc Chenin Blanc 2010

“Here’s a wine that’s definitely shooting blancs. It’s a new label out of the Devil’s Lair winery, and is an early sign of the shake-up we can expect under new (gun) winemaker Oliver Crawford. At first glance it’s an ‘early drinking’ style … but I suspect that it will be better with a year or three under its belt.

Lots of fresh, green, apple-like acidity. Makes for a very racy style. Notes of nectarine and apple and rosewater too – and that’s the thing, it’s mouthwatering and tart and yet it has softness and texture too. A mix of styles and sensations. Overall, I like it. Has some thistle and gravel-like flavours too. Needs a little time.”
